It's The Most Ambitious Time Of The Year

New years is all about resolutions and plans to make the year ahead of you different and to become a better person. Honestly, for most people, that's over after about the first two weeks of January. I don't know that I really believe in resolutions because they all fall through. But, that doesn't mean I believe in goals... I have been thinking for a few weeks now about the things I would like to change about my lifestyle, granted, some of them are out of my control. So I have compiled a list of goals and intentions that I have for the coming year. (Or at least for the remainder of my Twenties. I plan on being really selfish with my time/years while I'm not married and don't have children)
Goals:

  • Complete three paintings by June. I know this doesn't seem like much, but really I haven't picked up a paintbrush in nearly six months and the thought of that really depresses me. Painting is one of my biggest outlets for creativity and a wonderful method to de-stress. I feel like I'm losing a sense of self, who I am really, because I have allowed myself to become so busy with my job and things that really shouldn't have taken up so much of my time. Anyway.
  • Go Skydiving
  • Travel more. (This is more of an intention) I am planning a trip on the Mediterranean come May, but I would also like to visit more of Washington, possibly Montana, and hopefully Canada in the summertime. My goal is to visit Deception Pass, Victoria, Canada, Hot Springs Montana, (or Flathead Lake Montana). If I find a travel companion and am able to go to more places, you will not find me complaining. No, sir!
  • Try Zoka coffee in Kirkland. I know this is a really silly one, but I have heard many great things about this place and why not.
  • Ride the Ferris Wheel on the Seattle Pier.
  • Go on a hot air balloon ride in Seattle.
  • Try an authentic Italian Cappuccino
  • Read one book a month. Okay, I love reading. I've been reading my whole life, but this is another hobby that I've really stopped doing. I keep telling myself I need to make more time to do the things I love. Considering I could finish a book within a day or two, twelve books a year should be a piece of cake!
  • Get a haircut. Not a drastic change necessarily, but just a cut. I love long hair, and I plan on keeping the length, it's just that I haven't been to a salon in 7 years. The last time I went, they completely butchered my hair and I never went to a salon again. So maybe long layers? I'm still deciding. Baby steps, right?
  • Visit an aquarium! I've never been, and I think it's time. Definitely.
Intentions:
  • Live a healthier lifestyle. (Eat more veggies, pack lunches, eat breakfast every day, incorporate light exercise into my day)
  • Be outdoors more often.
  • Give more.
  • Practice more art. (Painting and Colored Pencil)
  • Not take things so seriously. I wrote a huge paragraph about this but decided it was too personal so I'll just leave it at that. Don't take things so seriously.
  • I can't think of anything else.
So, it has taken be a week to write this post. I have written and rewritten a few paragraphs, decided some of it was too personal, some of it was work related and I don't think I should be getting into detail whether it's good or bad. The holidays treated me well (aside from having food poisoning on top of a really bad cold on New Years). Now, all I can think about is my upcoming cruise in May. I'm headed to Italy for three days, and then embark on a cruise ship that'll go to Greece and Turkey. I'm going with my sister Larisa and I am so so excited!! This has always been one of my dreams, I just can't believe it's actually coming true. I want to purchase a GoPro or a really nice camera and document everything. Feel free to donate! :) Haha. Well, I guess that's all for now folks! Have a happy-super-late- New Year!
